Sara Gaver, Ms. Wheelchair USA 2022-2023
Sara Gaver, 28, was crowned the new Ms. Wheelchair USA on Sat., July 16 in front of a live theatre and tv audience. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to wear a national title. I will make a difference,” Gaver said when she won. The Ms. Wheelchair USA program celebrated its 25 year with a show titled Pure Imagination themed after Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The Dane Foundation is an Ohio headquartered foundation that serves individuals with physical and developmental disabilities and is the presenting organization of the national Ms. Wheelchair USA program.
Gaver resides in Jacksonville, Fla. and is a graduate of the University of North Florida with a degree in Healthcare Administration. She’s a sales analyst for a global software company, and does freelance social media management.
Gaver believes the best way to break down barriers for the disability
community is by changing society’s perceptions of individuals with disabilities. This wasn’t Gaver’s first trip to the pageant stage. In 2016 she was second runner-up in another national disability pageant and has competed twice at the Miss Florida USA pageant. This was her first national competition with the Ms. Wheelchair USA pageant and her platform of Creative Confidence, led her to the crown.
Gaver’s disability is Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. She has experience modeling for Tommy Hilfiger, Permobil, and other national companies and has served on several disability councils helping to improve playground and educ
The national competition for Ms. Wheelchair USA took place in Northeast Ohio July 10-17, 2022. Contestants spent the week participating in various press appearances, rehearsals, community events, and competitions that culminated in the crowning of Gaver as Ms. Wheelchair USA 2022-2023. She receives a prize package, as well as a booking and management contract to assist her in promoting her platform, and that of the Ms. Wheelchair USA organization and The Dane Foundation, the presenting organization. The Top 5 finalists include first runner-up, Sarah Tompkins, Washington; 2nd runner-up, Bianca Johnson, New York; 3rd runner-up, Ashley Lawrence, South Carolina; 4th runner-up, Jennifer Carter, Oklahoma.
